ChildFund Vietnam participates in the contribution session for the Draft 5-year-old Child Development Standards

On 6 April, with the support of ChildFund Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training held a “Contribution session for the 5-year-old Child Development Standards”. Participating were nearly 200 delegates who are leaders from the Early Childhood Education Department and other units under the Ministry of Education and Training, experts, scientists, representatives of the Departments of Education and Training, and school administrators and teachers from ChildFund’s project areas.
Topics of proposals and discussions surrounded standards and indicators related to 6 fields of child development, including: 1) Physical development; 2) Emotional and social relationship development; 3) Language and communication development; 4) Awareness development; 5) Aesthetic development; 6) Access to learning.
“5-year-old children need more of our attention to develop skills needed to enter primary school. Understanding the importance of the 5-year-old Child Development Standards, ChildFund and other international organisations have been accompanying the Early Childhood Education Department to develop the standards with the desire to better prepare 5-year-old children upon entering grade 1.” – Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Lien, ChildFund Vietnam Country Director shared.
