Workshop: Results sharing of project “My right to education” and learning exchange between Quang Hoa and Na Ri district

On 28 April, the workshop to share results from the project “My right to education” and exchange experience between Quang Hoa and Na Ri district was successfully held in Cao Bang. Nearly 200 participants were representatives from the Department of Education and Training of Cao Bang and Bac Kan province, the National Center for Special Education, the Center for Continuing Education, ACDC, members of Na Ri Organisation of Persons with Disabilities, kindergarten and primary school teachers, and members of the Self-help group for parents of children with disability in the two districts.
Notable results of the project in Quang Hoa and Na Ri were shared, such as the inclusive education planning of schools, individual education plans and specific teaching methods developed for children with disability based on their characteristics and abilities, the coordination between schools, families, and groups/associations of people with disability to build a safe and inclusive environment for children with disability, etc. In addition to strengthening communication and personal self-care skills for children with disability, the project brought positive changes to parents of children with disabilities regarding their awareness and ability to help children practice skills – by giving them step-by-step instructions instead of doing it for them.

Mr. Phan Van Giap – Vice Director of Bac Kan Department of Education and Training shared: “The quality of education in Cao Bang and Bac Kan provinces in general has been increasingly improved, including inclusive education for students with disability. Along with that, all levels, sectors, parents, and communities are increasingly aware of and interested in inclusive education for students with disability. Families with children with disability create more opportunities for them to go to school, be treated fairly, and gradually lessen their insecurity. Teachers of students with disability now have a sense of learning, exchanging experiences, improving their capability in inclusive education, taking care of students with disability, planning an individual education plan, and making a disability assessment.”
