(Hồ Chí Minh City, July 14th, 2020) Today, Hanwha Life Insurance Co., Ltd (Vietnam) launches the “An Yen Cho Em” program to give 1,000 gifts to children who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is co-implemented by Hanwha Life Vietnam, Vietnam Association for Protection of Child’s Rights (VACR), ChildFund Korea and ChildFund Vietnam.
The meaningful program is being introduced while the whole world is still seeing unprecedented turbulence due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Until now, Vietnam is one among few countries that has somewhat controlled the disease but COVID-19 has been causing unintended consequences. There have been a number of businesses that have declared bankruptcy, thousands of workers suffering job loss, and many children have had difficulty accessing education and health care as a result of their parents loss of income due to the impact of COVID-19. In addition to giving practical gifts, Hanwha Life also extends its hands, motivates and helps these vulnerable children to continue going to school every day peacefully through activities that call for the support of the whole community.
1,000 gifts worth VND1.2 billion including school supplies, school uniforms and commodities will be given to 1,000 children in four provinces and cities including Nha Be district – Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Vi District – Hanoi, Quynh Luu and Dien Chau District – Nghe An and Tan Lac District – Hoa Binh. Today, the first gift giving ceremony was held in Nha Be district – Ho Chi Minh City. The remaining gifts will be given to children in Hanoi, Nghe An and Hoa Binh on July 15, 16 and 18, 2020 respectively.
As well as giving gifts, the “An Yen Cho Em” program has also introduced more meaningful activities on social media at toichonanyen.hanwhalife.com.vn asking the community to join hands to send good wishes to children. This is intended to raise awareness of disadvantaged children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as help them overcome difficulties to have a brighter future.
Sharing about the program, Mr. Im Dong Jun, CEO cum Chairman of Member Council of Hanwha Life Vietnam, said: “Hanwha Life Vietnam is pleased to cooperate with VACR(Vietnam Association for Protection of Child’s Rights), ChildFund Vietnam and ChildFund Korea to launch the “An Yen Cho Em” program, giving essential items and gifts to 1,000 children affected by Covid-19. Children are the most disadvantaged and vulnerable in terms of education and medical care when their parents lose their jobs during the Covid-19 epidemic. I hope that the program will prove our commitments to helping children and their families to reduce financial difficulties before the new school year and get better health care as well”.
The “An Yen Cho Em” program is one of the corporate sustainability activities conducted by Hanwha Life Vietnam to support the Vietnamese government and people to prevent and respond to COVID-19. To date, Hanwha Life Vietnam has sponsored nearly VND3.8 billion for activities such as donating 8,000 medical protective outfits to the Departments of Health in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh cities; provided 3,257 health insurance cards, 175 blood units, hand-washing sanitizers, masks and 1,000 gifts to children affected by COVID-19 epidemic presented today (14 Jul). As well as making a positive contribution to the prevention of COVID-19, in 11 years of operations in Vietnam, Hanwha Life has spent over VND30 billion on building schools, health centers, charitable houses and implementing other goodwill programs.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Lien, Country Director of ChildFund Vietnam, said, “We highly appreciate the support of Hanwha Life Insurance company that has enabled us to provide essential equipment and supplies for vulnerable children and families who are affected by the pandemic. COVID-19 is causing serious damage to health, economy and society worldwide. Although the epidemic has been somewhat controlled in Vietnam, it has been causing serious consequences for the economy and the lives of many people and families. Together with ChildFund’s long-term partner Hanwha Life, we hope to bring better learning and development opportunities for children”.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Chairwoman of the VACR also spoke to the importance of the “An Yen Cho Em” program, which is highlighted in the results of recent research conducted by VACR on the impact of COVID-19 on children: “The latest research report on the situation of children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic carried out by VACR has pointed out a lot of health, psychological problems and difficulties in the lives of children. Facing this situation, we are thankful to have the opportunity to work in partnership with ChildFund Vietnam to carry out the “An Yen Cho Em” program and thank Hanwha Life Vietnam for sponsoring the program to support 1000 children with basic commodities and school supplies, to help families ease their difficulties ahead of the new school year. Keeping in mind the spirit of “Joining together, sharing and protecting children’s rights”, VACR hopes more and more supporters will join hands with children and families in difficult circumstances and continue spreading this meaningful program”.
