Today, we are glad to welcome Mr. Le Ngoc Bao as our special guest in this month’s internal newsletter. Bao has been with ChildFund for more than 10 years, and all ChildFunders are indeed excited to hear about his new position and responsibilities.
Bao spoke on behalf of ChildFund Vietnam at an event.
Thank you for spending time with us. First of all, can you briefly share with all members of ChildFund Vietnam about your current feelings after successfully fulfilling your duties as the Acting Head of Program?
Hi, thank you for having me. I am extremely happy now. After officially being informed that I have completed 6 months as the Acting Head of Program, I am fulfilled and also grateful for the trust and recognition of the Country Director and colleagues in the organisation. I highly appreciate the support from SMT members, specialists, project officers from the program team, and all members of ChildFund Vietnam. If it were not for their enthusiasm and dedicated support, it would have been difficult for me to achieve goals and targets, especially since the responsibility of a Head of Program is heavy.
In the past 6 months, you must have faced a lot of challenges. Can you tell us more about the difficulties you encountered, as well as how you tackled them?
For me, perhaps the most challenging thing during the past 6 months as the Acting Head of Program was when ChildFund Vietnam developed a new country strategic plan. We need to sort out a lot of issues, and there were few previous best practices available, which meant that I could not embark on a well-trodden path.
Therefore, I always remind myself to work hard and improve myself day by day. With the support of my colleagues, the Program team has come up with new products, including the Road Map or the set of KPIs. Along with the encouragement of the Country Director and the coordination from other departments throughout the organisation, I am even more determined to conquer new things.

Besides, I purposefully strive for innovative programs. I would also want to promote the spirit of cooperation, devise viable solutions to solve particular problems or take advantage of all my team members’ strengths. Indeed, it is not straightforward for me, so I need to have the right approach.
Thank you for sharing your stories. Taking this opportunity, could you send a message not only to the Program team, but also for all the members of ChildFund Vietnam?
First of all, let me send a quick message to all members of the Program team, many of whom I collaborate with daily. The Program Team plays a crucial role in almost all activities of ChildFund Vietnam with a huge responsibility. I’m proud that during the past six months, we’ve achieved targets that seemed to be extremely challenging. To the Program team, we should take great pride in what we have accomplished. I believe that with our spirit and determination, we will overcome all challenges and difficulties together.
Mr. Bao spoke at the Roundtable Dialogue with the participation of the Special Representative of the General Secretary of the United Nations
Regarding those coming from other departments in the organisation, from the Human Resources & Support team, the Finance team to the Public Affairs team, the new country strategic plan will bring us a turning point, thus urging us to promote unity throughout the whole organisation. I am the one who likes to observe people around me, and I can see that everyone in our organisation is devoting their all to our work. I hope that we will always maintain that spirit so that ChildFund Vietnam can always be creative and can better adapt to changes in the future.
Mr. Bao, on behalf of ChildFund Vietnam, received a certificate of appreciation from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO)
Thanks a lot. The Lunar New Year is coming, on behalf of the Editorial team of the Together Newsletter, I wish you a new year full of health, success and happiness!

On December 10, within the framework of the project “Improving the effectiveness of the child protection system”, ChildFund Vietnam accompanied the Department of Children’s Affairs (Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs), the Authority of Information Security , and GOSU Joint Stock Company to hold the Awards Ceremony of “Child Protection game ideas” contest.
After 3 months, the organiser has received 40 ideas from candidates of different ages and from different regions across the country. Among them, 10 excellent ideas were selected to enter the final round.
After presentations from the candidates and Q&A sessions with the judges, the winner of the contest was the GTEAM with a game idea called “Future Leaders”. The winner will be assisted by GOSU Online Joint Stock Company to turn their idea into a game product. Besides, other prizes were also awarded to other excellent candidates.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Hoa Nam, Director of the Department of Children’s Affairs, hoped that the values and messages of the contest would become widespread. He also believed that some of the game ideas of the contest might soon gain popularity in the cyberspace, thereby paving the way for many other online games aimed at strengthening the knowledge and skills of children and adults on online safety and other aspects of life.

Family Day is an annual activity of ChildFund Vietnam. After a period of hiatus due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Family Day 2022 has returned with a welcoming atmosphere at 4 offices in Hanoi, Bac Kan, Hoa Binh, and Cao Bang.
Attending this year’s Family Day were a large number of ChildFund Vietnam members and their families. A lot of rich, useful and equally exciting activities were prepared by the Organising Committee throughout the event. Let’s take a look back at the best moments captured in ChildFund Vietnam’s Family Day 2022!
January is when many traditional festivals of ethnic groups across the country are held. The people in the lowlands have traditional spiritual festivals, while the people in the coastal areas indeed have exciting boat racing festivals. Meanwhile, people residing in mountainous areas acquire a reputation for various spring festivals with their own unique and impressive features.
In January, many localities in Bac Kan province often organise the “Long Tong”. The “Long Tong” Festival is divided into two parts: the first one is the ceremony to revere heaven and mother earth to wish for a peaceful and prosperous new year ahead. The second part includes festivals with traditional music performances that display the love for their homeland, as well as traditional folk games, namely tug of war, walking on stilts, etc.
In order to welcome the new country strategic plan 2022-2025, we challenge all members of ChildFund Vietnam to participate in a quiz. Exciting rewards awaits those with the highest scores!!!
You can refer to the strategic plan here before taking the quiz: https://childfund.org.vn/publications/childfund-vietnam-strategic-plan-2022-2025/
