ChildFund Vietnam honouring local volunteers on International Volunteer Day 2014

Together with other volunteer-involving organisations all over the world, on December 5, 2014 ChildFund Vietnam has celebrated the International Volunteer Day (IVD). ChildFund Vietnam has produced a short film on some of the voluntary achievements at ChildFund on this occasion.

In Vietnam, for the past 15 years, over 500 local volunteers in Cao Bang, Bac Kan and Hoa Binh province have spent at least 500 hours each year on their volunteer work at ChildFund.

This is one of the interesting statistics collected by ChildFund’s staff to celebrate the International Volunteer Day (IVD) – December 5, 2014.  Also on this occasion, ChildFund Vietnam has organized recognition events at the community to honour the contribution of local volunteers who have been constantly assisting the organisation’s activities.

IVD is a unique opportunity for organisations and individuals to recognize all voluntary commitment to community development and to applaud hundreds of millions of people who volunteer to make change happen. This year, IVD focuses on the contribution of volunteers in mobilizing participation of the community, helping to bring about stronger governance, social cohesion, peace and sustainable development.

According to ChildFund’s interim report, every year the local volunteers support ChildFund with child sponsorship, communications and other project work effectively such as hundreds of periodical communications sessions on topics as water and sanitation practices, mother and child healthcare, improved farming techniques or thousands of letters and presents are hand delivered to children at ChildFund program areas.

The volunteers also act as the first and important bridge between the organisation and local people in implementing programs in order to creat better living standards for children and their families.

“I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all your work because we wouldn’t be able to make the positive changes to children’s lives without your support,” said Deborah Leaver, Country Director of ChildFund Vietnam.

Let’s see a short film that highlights some of the voluntary achievements at ChildFund and messages from ChildFund Australia and ChildFund Vietnam management board.
