Success stories
During my three years working at ChildFund Vietnam, I have had many opportunities to visit Bac Kan province, one of ChildFund’s project areas located in the north of Vietnam. One of the most memorable trips is in November 2013 when we accompanied Australian sponsors Mr and Mrs Odgen to visit their sponsored child in Bach Thong, one of the poorest districts in Bac Kan.
Women in Ngoc Dong commune, Cao Bang province are enjoying the first fruits of their labour following the Credit and Savings scheme implemented by ChildFund Vietnam and the Ngoc Dong commune women’s union in 2011. The project works with women to develop livelihood opportunities to overcome poverty.
Studies have demonstrated that reading to children has many positive effects. Reading books not only helps children to widen their knowledge about the world but also develop their language skills, their imagination and dreams. These are some of the targets of ChildFund’s project to give children better access to reading resources.

Early in June 2013, thanks to the support from TOMS and ChildFund in Vietnam, children in 26 ChildFund project communes in Hoa Binh, Cao Bang and Bac Kan provinces received new shoes for their own.
